All of us have heard about Anaemia because about a third of the world is anaemic and the majority of them are due to iron deficiency. But did you know that there are some anaemia where giving iron supplements are harmful? So, let us try to understand in brief what Anaemia is.
Our blood is composed mainly of cells (45%) and fluid (55%). The cells are Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, and Platelets, each having its own function. These cells are formed in the red bone marrow containing precursor stem cells from which all blood cells develop by the process known as Haematopoiesis. These cells develop, differentiate, and mature to form the various types of blood cells.
