A12-year old girl Kaamya Karthikeyan, a class VII student of Navy Children School (NCS), located at Colaba in South Mumbai, became the youngest girl in the world when she recently scaled Mt. Aconcagua, 6,962-metre (20,841 feet), the highest peak in South America, outside of Asia.

      Kaamya, the daughter of Indian Navy officer Cdr. S. Karthikeyan, summitted the Argentinian mountain peak on first February, 2020 and unfurled the Indian tricolour. She began from base camp on 27 January to reach the top on 1st February, along with her father and a guide.

       In fact she had reached Mendoza (Argentina) on 3rd January. She started the climb on 17 January and spent 9 days in the mountains. But being a minor, authorities turned her down back to the base camp. However, undeterred Cdr. S. Karthikeyan complied with all the formalities and saw to it that his daughter fulfils her dream.
