But there are scores of people who might be feeling grateful to their benefactors for saving their lives by donating to them their organs before breathing their last. For example, not long ago, an unlettered, down-at-heel Hindu family in Gujarat gave a new lease of life to a Muslim man on the death bed.
Thanks to the efforts of Donate Life, a Surat-based, award-winning non-government organization working for organ donations, the heart of a 21-year-old small-time driver, brain dead after a road accident, was transplanted into the body of a 32-year-old madrassa teacher who had been fighting for life for eight months.
