Even as the number of COVID-19 positives is galloping, India is trying to remain ahead of the virus, involving private laboratories and planning to conduct over two lakh tests per day, to ensure that the testing facilities are not overwhelmed in any part of the country.

   “India has ramped up COVID-19 testing capacity and within a short span the country will be self-sufficient,” Dr. Rajnikant Srivastava, head of the Department of Research Management, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said. Speaking to GYAN Vitaranam, Dr. Srivastava said that the testing infrastructure has been augmented significantly and now over one lakh tests are being conducted per day.
