Savouring Traditions Exploring the Rich Tapestry of Sweet Culture in Ancient India

   Sweets are a major part of Indian cuisine. The richness and sweetening flavour of love manages to bloom immense emotional surge even on the gravest day. Indian sweet culture is significant in celebrations and has been a big part of life since ancient times. Indian cuisine bursts with all sorts of soothing textures and flavours to gratify the sweet buds. Yet the sweet culture is something else to note.

Historical context

   It is particularly difficult to construct the prehistory of the 6th century BCE because of the lack of literary and archaeological sources. We do have an idea of what the Vedic period was, which spanned out from 1500 to 500 BCE. It was the age when the oldest scriptures of the Indian subcontinent, the Vedas, were written down.
