The Mumbai University and the colleges affiliated to it are on a collision course over non-submission of basic documents by students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs for the period 2019 till 2023 leading to uncertainty about the admissions.
The college administrators claim that many students submit documents, including migration certificates, only after the admission process concludes. In fact they can arrange for the certificates during the vacations. If the students delay submission of documents, nothing can be done.
But the university maintains that it is the responsibility of the colleges to collect the documents and submit them to the university soon after the admissions. Or else the admissions will be held invalid. The end result? The uncertainty prevails about the admissions of over 97,000 students.
The students have already begun facing the impact of administrative delay.....
