Coexistence, our only chance

  For many centuries in the name of progress humans have been churning out stuff; no doubt helpful for humans, in the name of economic growth, unfettered consumption, good health and personal happiness, but with no particular thought regarding what its effects would be on the natural world. The human assumption ‘we are in control’ of the world – is wayoff the mark – in fact, the problems created by humans are global and progressive, and very near to the point of no return. If anything human actions have sped up, it is the global endgame. Population has exploded out of control, fresh drinking water is falling short and atmosphere and seas are getting polluted at an alarming rate; climate is changing in ways which is unfavourable for life.
