      Entering college for the young entails the crucial period of their transition from adolescence to adulthood. It is when they have to adapt to new schedules, workloads and figure out how to belong. They face challenges, pressures and anxieties which cause them to feel overwhelmed. All of it could trigger depression in them leading to persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. And it’s not just a bout of the blues. They can’t just simply snap out of it.

     Addressing this factor of college students, the prestigious H.L. College of Commerce (HLCC) in Ahmedabad has been running a campus facility called Mitra Counselling Cell for the past 10 years. The cell is helmed by Prof. Hervez Bharucha who is a qualified clinical psychologist. Apart from running the cell singlehandedly, an affable Prof. Bharucha teaches computer science and soft skills to the first and second year B.Com students at the college. Since he also....
