Honesty, Ethics, Morals and other Values

Recently, there was a report of the derailment of a long train carrying chemicals in the U.S., resulting in spillage of chemicals. One Analyst advised the CEO of the Rail Company: “Be honest. The truth always comes out”.

He was referring to the negligence of maintenance of the track and the wagons by the private company ignoring the warnings, to save money. The defects and failures may be glossed over for some time, but not for long.

Ultimately, the system collapses. “You start taking shortcuts and over time that corrodes what’s best in a people. It corrodes the character of the country”. (Obama)

We know about the enormous loss of life in the Bhopal gas tragedy. Still, its impact on thousands of lives continues.
