Familiarise yourself with some of the idioms used in the business world:

On the make – Trying to get money or power in an unscrupulous way.

Have your hand/fingers in the till – To steal money from the place where you work.

Run a tight ship – To control a business or other organisation firmly and effectively.

Hard-nosed – Practical and determined.

Fat cat – An impolite way of referring to someone who is very rich and powerful.

Cook the books – To record false information in the accounts of an organisation, especially in order to steal money.

A big fish in a small pond – One of the most important people in a small organisation who would have much less power and importance if they were part of a larger organisation.

Drive a hard bargain – To demand a lot or refuse to give much when making an agreement with....
