Where Geeks Play God!

 Ageek may be described as one obsessed with a chosentechnologyto solve a familiar issue. Such a breed of geeks has surfaced of late in the post-Climate Summit days, offering solutions which are short-cuts compared to the decisions agreed upon by world leaders to address global warming.

   As some of the geeks are wellknown professors and researchers, they cannot be brushed aside as publicity-mongers. It is worth examining whether the quick fixes suggested would enable their advocates play God in re-shaping Nature and if so, the consequences thereof.

   One of the plans suggested is known as solar radiation management.Actually it is an old concept, justified as cutting down emission of carbon dioxide alone is consideredinadequate to bring down global warming to the desired level. The plan is to inject sulphuric acid into the stratosphere at about 20km to form sulphate aerosols, which would reflect about one per cent....
