As part of the growing quest to unravel the “secrets and mysteries” of the “dark universe”, the twenty member states European Space Agency (ESA), considered Europe’s gateway to space, is busy preparing for the launch of high profile Euclid space science mission sometime towards the end of this decade.
The Euclid satellite module planned to carry a high resolution telescope and associated instruments is now under development at the Toulouse facility of the European space technology enterprise Astrium. The major mission objective of Euclid designed for an active mission life of six years is to help explore the dark energy and dark matter in order to understand the evolution of the universe since the Big Bang.
