Count the blessings

    I do not remember when I came across this term. It was pre-Google era. I could not get all the words of the song. But I was impressed with the message behind the three words.

   I wrote the ‘blessings’ I received in my diary and it was so many, countless, innumerable that it filled many pages; it was an autobiography of sorts, and I gave up after sometime.

  Recently, I was going through the old diaries and I came across this aborted attempt to enumerate the blessings I received.

  I could recall periods of stress, depression and disappointments. There were blind alleys and dead ends without any hope of progress or success, with no light at the end of the tunnel, when my family, friends and relatives acted as shock absorbers and balancing wheels, supporting me at all times. They shared my agony and pain. A blessing.
