AI’s Amrit with Poison

     Even as the fantastic performance of AI gadgets continue to greet us, the achievement’s downside is showing up in the form of emission of green gas nullifying the global efforts to fight climate change.

    It is well-documented that two trillion tonnes of carbon dioxide has been added to the Earth’s atmosphere since the 1700s, three-fourths of it since the mid-1950s. Currently 50 billion tonnes of green gases are added annually. The gas lingers on for thousands of years leading to heat trap and climate change marked by irregular weather patterns harmful to life on Earth.

    The International Energy Agency has predicted that AI-sourced emission of carbon would double in the next two years to reach 1000 tera tones, The increase in green gas emission is mainly due to the operation of AI computers.
