Public Examinations Bill 2024 An Act to Curb Malpractices in Public Examinations

    The Lok Sabha recently cleared the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024, which seeks to prevent unfair means in public examinations and common entrance tests (CET) held across the country.

    The bill aims to address malpractices and irregularities in government recruitment exams by imposing strict penalties, including a maximum jail term of 10 years and a fine of up to Rupeess One Crore.

   The unfair means will be punishable with imprisonment for a term of not less than three years but which may extend up to five years and with a fine of up to Rs 10 Lakh.

   If a person or a group of persons commits an organized crime, including the examination authority or service provider or any other institution, they will be punished with imprisonment for a term not less than five years but which may extend to ten years and with a fine not less than Rs. One Crore.
