Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan The frontier Gandhi who fought for a United India

  Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (1890-1988), popularly known as the ‘Frontier Gandhi’ (Sarhadi Gandhi) was a social reformer, political leader and legendary freedom fighter. He was also affectionately called ‘Badshah Khan’, and ‘Bacha Khan’ (King Khan).

  Badshah Khan was closely identified with Mahatma Gandhi and his leadership of the Khudai Khidmatgar (Servants of God) movement from 1930-47 – one of the most triumphant and unrelenting Gandhian non-violent campaigns anywhere in the world.

   Mahatma Gandhi described him as “A man of God” and across the globe he is known as ‘a citizen of the world’. His affection for ahimsa (non-violence) and Satyagraha (truth force) earned him the nickname, the Frontier Gandhi. Khan discarded all forms of violence in the fight for freedom and other initiatives.
