Mary Ann wins the 38th National Women Premier Championship

   Mary Ann Gomes, the 22 year old girl from Kolkata won the 38th National Women Premier Championship held in Chennai. With this win her career reached a new turn which will put her on a par with some of the greats in the Indian women’s chess. “I feel amazing winning my first National Women Premier Championship. It's a completely different experience.” said the champion.

   The National Women Premier Chess Title was decided on a tie break. Mary Ann of Airport Authority of India confirmed her maiden national title after she drew her final round game against World Grandmaster Kiran Manisha Mohanty. “I want to complete the International Master Title and Elo Rating 2400 immediately, preferably before the end of this year. I dedicate this title to my mother Freda Gomes, who has been suffering from cancer for nearly ten years now.” said Marry Ann after winning the championship.
