Mangosteen the queen of tropical fruits

   Mangosteen (Garcinia Mangostana) is a delicious fruit grown in Thailand, Brazil, Burma, Hawaii, Southern India, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Northern Australia and other tropical countries. Mangosteen is one of the most widely recognized tropical fruits and has universal acceptance because of its appearance, quality in flavour and taste.

   It almost reaches mythical heights being given the nickname of the “Queen of the Fruits”. In the French Caribbean it is known as the “Fruit of the Gods” because of health benefits and delicious taste and is in fact Thailand’s national fruit.

   The best bibliography of the historical references to mangosteen was assembled by Cora L. Feldkamp. She provided an overview of the mangosteen history and its steady march towards modern times and greater familiarity in the Western Hemisphere and Europe.
