A battle of survival for aviation industry

     Although Union Civil Aviation ministry expects domestic flights to reach up to 60 per cent capacity by Diwali this year, the Indian aviation industry which has been losing estimated Rs.75 Crore daily, during Covid-19 induced lock down, is struggling to survive due to the pandemic.

    While credit rating agency Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited (CRISIL) has estimated the loss due to suspension of air travel at Rs 25000 Crore, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the number of passengers is less than 45 per cent compared to pre-COVID-19 period and there are less chances of speedy improvement in the situation.

    According to IATA globally the jobs of over 25 million people have been affected and both men and machines are taking a heavy toll on the aviation industry. Various researchers and industry experts also feel that the impact of the pandemic is worse than the 9/11 attack.....
