The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik has undertaken a major bio-conservation project on its sprawling campus, which is full of vegetation and abounds in rare species of exotic birds.

   The Trimbakeshwar mountain range lies 30 km southwest of Nashik, the Western Ghats of Maharashtra bringing it closer to the flora and fauna and also giving it a natural look. The MUHS which has already been engaged is setting up a special cell in its museum “Ekshna” to inform students about different types of birds visiting the campus, spotted over 595 birds of 59 rare species in its recent pre monsoon bird survey.

   The survey was organized by the MUHS in collaboration with Nature Lovers Group – “Arnyani Bioconservation Society”. During the survey, the crested cuckoo, the laggard falcon, the Purple Sunbird, the Purple Rapped Sunbird, Tickell's blue flycatcher (Cyornis tickelliae), Tailor....
